In this post I’m gonna share how to get rid of fungal acne on the forehead with a £10 hack I discovered!

How to get rid of fungal acne on forehead
I first thought of this hack last summer when I got fungal acne for the first time, but I was too scared to try it back then. Damn, how I wish I was braver last year because it works SO much better than anything else I’ve tried for fungal acne – and it’s literally £9.99!
I’ll get straight to the product first, and then I will break down how it works & how to apply it.
Best product for fungal acne on forehead
The product is Clever Soap 0.5% Piroctone Olamine Face & Body Cream (affiliate link).

To my knowledge you can only get this on Amazon, any smaller, independent shop that sells the Clever Soap brand or the Clever Soap website.
How to apply it to get rid of fungal acne on the forehead
- I recommend applying this 1-2x per day onto clean, dry skin.
- Example – you can apply it first thing in the morning (no cleanse), or first thing after cleansing. Alternatively you can apply it after cleansing in the evening.
- Make sure you use a super thin layer, spread evenly across the skin – there’s no point putting too much on, and you’ll notice how easily it spreads!
- I will usually wait a few mins for it to sink in and then apply my normal routine afterwards.
- I’ve been using it with my retinoid and had absolutely zero issues doing this.

How it works
The active ingredient is piroctone olamine, which is the same antifungal ingredient in some Head & Shoulder shampoos like the Nizoral fungal acne hack.

Therefore, it works in the same way as the Nizoral shampoo – by fighting the yeast causing fungal acne to proliferate and irritate the hair follicles (which gives the appearance of acne, even though it isn’t acne).
Fungal acne not going away with Nizoral? Clever Soap works better, here’s why:
I think it works a lot better than the Ketoconazole shampoo hack (Nizoral etc) because this product can be left on instead of washed off.

The antifungal ingredient stays on the skin all day or all night, fighting the yeast. It’s much like how a salicylic acid toner is more powerful than a wash-off cleanser because it stays on the skin and soaks in.
Like I said, I ordered this last year but was scared to apply it to my forehead, because my forehead breakouts so easily. This is why I haven’t used any antifungal creams, because creams might fight the yeast, but they can also cause more regular acne breakouts.
However, the Clever Soap ‘cream’ isn’t really a cream at all, it’s a very thin gel with very few ingredients. I now know that it doesn’t cause me any irritation or breakouts on my forehead, so I can use it without worrying!

I will say that it can sting a little bit. But it goes away quickly and leaves no sign of irritation for me personally.
I also think it works better than the spray I recommended last year, because the antifungal ingredient in the spray is not as effective as piroctone olamine.
How to get rid of fungal acne overnight
Getting rid of fungal acne quickly, and especially overnight, might sound too good to be true. Honestly, I have had comments about how this fungal acne hack has drastically improved peoples skin overnight.
The thing is, it’s actually possible with fungal acne because it’s not real acne – it just looks like acne. What’s actually happening is the malassezia yeast is irritating the pore, which is causing a small whitehead. If you kill off the yeast overnight, the inflammation can go down very quickly.
What triggered my fungal acne?
It’s worth reading this part if you still don’t fully understand why you get fungal acne. These are some common triggers:
- Humid weather
- Sweating a lot
- New products
- Compression on the face/forehead such as wearing a tight hat
Personally, my trigger is humidity that causes my forehead to sweat a lot. My London flat is soooo hot and I can’t help but sweat basically all day if it’s over 25 degrees. I learned that essentially nothing can fight the FA if I am constantly sweating.

Even when I was using Nizoral shampoo fungal acne hack and the Superdrug spray daily, I would still get little bumps. This is the only product that seems to reduce them almost entirely, and it actually makes me feel okay to sweat all day, because I know the CleverSoap will prevent it from getting really bad like last summer – it’s such a weight off my shoulders!
I really hope it works for you too, as obviously I can only test it on myself – feel free to let me know in the comments how it goes.

What about fungal acne on cheeks, nose and face?
This is the best product for fungal acne I’ve found yet, and I have tried it on my cheeks and it seems to work well there too.
